Pride and Pancakes

Image
Pride and Pancakes Happily Ever Austen Written by: Ellen Mint Pride and Pancakes is a short and sassy story about a returning washed-up rock star and a reporter who are at each other's throats until they are snowed in together and the sexual tension is too much to bare. Beth Cho is a reporter who goes for the throat as she is trying to prove to herself and the world that she is someone worth listening to. Tristan Harty is a has-been musician who wants to come out of retirement. As these two fight before succumbing to their lust for each other the tension is high. They have some witty sparring. This story is a fast-tracked romance where the two characters give into their sexual tension in explicit escapades while snowed in at the cabin where they meet. While there are some light plot holes such as why they met at the cabin in the first place, the romantic story is brief but enjoyable. The explicit nature of the sex was unnecessary however the way the two characters reconci

Simplicity A Simple Love Story: Book 1 Written by: Dana LeCheminant Simplicity claims to be a simple love story but it is anything but. As the "Davenport princess," wealthy Lanna has tried to be everything her mother wants her to be. Losing her two brothers, one to death and one to who knows where, made her life ever more lonely. Her only relief is her art. Even that becomes an unknown as the dashing gardener, Luke, questions the soul in her paintings. On the other hand, Adam, the wealthy heir to the Munroe art empire, shows her everything good and wholesome that can come from a life among the elite. Can she choose between the two men who help push the boundaries of her sheltered life? Or will tragedy change the course of her life. A Bull Rider's Paradise

A Bull Rider's Paradise Barrels and Hearts: A Prequel Written by: Edith Mackenzie This short sweet was a great way to start the Barrels and Hearts series. Told as a memory being passed from mother to daughter it reminded me of times when my family reminisced. Ana and Eduardo pass through mountains of challenges as they find their happily ever after. With family, strong prejudices, and poverty all set in their path- their love grows stronger than they could have dreamed and Eduardo finds his true paradise. While this story lacks characterization and visualization, it does bring a sense of family and connection to the past. Edith Mackenzie makes this prequel fit the bill of a short novella setting up for something greater to come. It makes me look forward to reading the rest of the Barrels and Hearts series.

Coming Home to the Top of Main Street A Nestled Hollow Romance: Book 0 Written by Meg Easton Chef Marcus and business woman Joselyn pair up to take their small town of Nestled Hollow by storm. With his famous ice cream and her business sense, no other shop of main street could match them until the stresses of starting their own business wear on their new relationship. Can these two new partners in the restaurant business and love figure out their path to a future? Meg Easton's little town of Nestled Hollow drew me again. With ice cream flavors that I want to go out and try along with the small town feeling, I can't wait to read the next book in the series. Joselyn is a strong business woman who knows what she wants while Marcus is a sweet chef and ice cream connoisseur. The Zimmerman family share strong connections that while seem to be a worrying factor in the Joselyn and Marcus's relationship, help push them back together. The tension happens in all the right mo

The Semi-Royal

The Semi-Royal The Borderline Chronicles: Book 4 The Semi-Royal tells the story of the prim and proper Rho learning to let go and let herself love her secret best friend, Arron. As they go on a magical research expedition, they find themselves romancing each other out of sight of everyone else until the one person who they never expected shows up. With explosions and the prodigal brother, Arron and Rho must determine if their friendship and love is worth fighting for. Fiona West has written a beautiful romance with the perfect amount of tension. While the fantasy elements were not integral to the story and seemed superfluous, the story flowed well and kept me reading to see if Rho would let go of her stiff upbringing and need to be in control. Fiona dealt with the difficulties of eating and body image disorders in a tasteful and powerful way. Perfect for a light-hearted read. While set as a sequel, the first in the series is not necessary to have read. The story stands on its o

Love, Michael

Love, Michael A story of regrets an d second chances Written by: Gina A. Jones This is a well-written story that covers the difficult topics of divorce and abuse along with reconciliation and forgiveness. While the story is based upon a true story, it is a graphic story which made it hard to listen to. The process of forgiveness is reaffirming despite how terrible Michael was to her. Overall, I would not listen to this book again. With language and graphic scenes it was a bit much for my perspective. For one who doesn't mind those, this would be a great listen.
