A Match for a Marine

Image
A Match for the Marine Written by: Jess Mastorakos This was such a fun read- a forbidden love with a career on the line. Both characters find themselves entranced with each other and can't help but fall in love. This has to be my favorite of Jess Mastorakos's stories. The entire story drew me in the way only a good love story can. Amy Thomas and Gunnery Sergeant Dexter Harrington are both dedicated to their work and love is not a priority in any way shape or form. When Dexter's mom comes in meddling to help her son find his love, the awkwardness and romance starts. The writing was clean and engaging. I couldn't wait to finish it.

While You Were Speaking

Image
While You Were Speaking The Harvest Ranch Romance Series Written by: Maria Hoagland While You Were Speaking is a cute addition to the Harvest Ranch Romance Series. With characters coming back from other books in the series along with a whole extended family of new characters, it is a great continuation of the small town of Harvest Ranch. I love the small town trope as the whole community comes together to help each other, everyone knows everyone, and there really is feeling of family within the town.  Add in mistaken identities, lifelong dreams coming to pass, and finding happiness in life and you get this sweet story. Lucy and Zachary both think each other are unavailable to start but as they get to know each other and are pushed together over the course of a week, their feelings grow and their chance for true love may just come to pass. I really enjoyed reading all about this couple's journey to a happily ever after.

Kiss Me Now

Image
Kiss Me Now Written by: Melanie Jacobson Kiss Me Now is about a sweet first year teacher who reinvents her life after the dark side of D.C. politicians took a bite out of her combined with a cynical and tired private investigator who makes his living finding the dirt. These two characters come together with the perfect balance of goodhearted folks trying to do the right thing who fall in love.  This was such a fun read. I always love Melanie Jacobson's stories- they have such a wholesome, clean, and good feel to them. The writing just flows and I really enjoy her voice. In this story, she took some heavy topics and addressed them in a way that made sense for the story without making it a heavy book. It was very tastefully done. The whole story took a deep look at black side of D.C. politics without being a book about politics- it still was a story about a couple who met with the help of a conniving grandmother- had their struggles and differences before figuring it out. Every...

Her Cowboy's Fake Proposal

Image
Her Cowboy's Fake Proposal Red River's Hope- Book 1 Written by: Audree Snow Her Cowboy's Fake Proposal is part one of a new book that is split into individual sections. So far it has set up the sweet beginnings of friendship in the middle of a small town. With a proposal of convenience at the very end it leaves it at a slight cliff hanger. Audree Snow has added the misogyny of the boy's club with the great environment of the small town feeling to create a unique challenge for the characters to overcome. I look forward to seeing where this story goes.

A Kiss to Build a Dream On

Image
A Kiss to Build a Dream On The Harvest Ranch Romance Series Written by: Holly Stevenson A Kiss to Build a Dream On was a sweet, short read. All about the meeting and initial romance of an unlikely couple. The setting was beautiful to read about and the characters are hard-working, kind, and good-hearted people. The whole story was just a perfect short feel-good story that brought a smile to my face as I read. It is another great Harvest Ranch Romance book.

Hometown Heartbeat

Image
Hometown Heartbeat The Harvest Ranch Romance Series Written by: Amberlee Day Hometown Heartbeat is a sweet, Hallmarkesque book. With big city reporter coming to small town to take care of her aunt for a time and a big hunk cowboy that get off to a rough start- their romance is a slow burn. The characters are sweet with faces from previous books along with new ones to meet. I enjoyed the funny moments as Ronnie became accustomed to the unique parts of farm life once again- only making a slight fool of herself in the process.  The best part about this book had to be the secondary characters. Aunt Doe, Ellie, Farlan, and even out-of-towner Starla all bring their quirks and humorous antics to the table.

The Chemistry of Christmas

Image
The Chemistry of Christmas Christmas at Shiloh Ridge Ranch Written by: Liz Isaacson I don't know if I am more impressed with how well all of the titles fit the books and the characters in this series or at how much I enjoy reading the romances of each of the Glover siblings. While the picture on the cover doesn't scream Preacher Glover to me, I do love Preacher, Charlie, and everything about them. Their love story that is perfect just for them- so different than the other Glover brothers but still shows the spirit of Shiloh Ridge Ranch.  This whole series is a fantastic read. While I do recommend reading the stories in order to give you the best experience (helping to avoid spoilers along with getting to know the whole family) it isn't completely necessary. These are fantastic books that just draw you in.

Falling for My Sister's Ex

Image
Falling for My Sister's Ex The Harvest Ranch Romance Series Written by: Catelyn Meadows When I first read the title, I thought this story was going to be one of those where the girl would going against the code and backstabbing her sister. It was the complete opposite though. From high school sweethearts, drawn apart by a social/popular sister to grown adults who find themselves brought together again by chance- this is a sweet reconciliation story. While I couldn't help but be mad at Savannah (the sister), I love  Blaire's steadfastness personality that reminds me of myself.

His Small-Town Fresh Start

Image
His Small-Town Fresh Start The Harvest Ranch Romance Series Written by: Lucy McConnell This was such a cute, fresh read. A washed-up cowboy waiting for his break back into the rodeo and a woman who loves everything about her home, the ranch, and her family who live there. The characters are real with unique characteristics- even the background characters. It was fun to see the characteristics from different people that I am sure will have their own stories. While the romance in this story happened fast- within the space of only two weeks- the hero and heroine looked outside of themselves and took care of each other- showing through their actions that they are ready for a real relationship with each other.  I always look forward to Lucy McConnell's books.

Billionaire Cowboy's Secret Baby Book 5

Image
Billionaire Cowboy's Secret Baby Creek Ranch Book 5 Written by: Audree Snow This next installment in the series has so much happen within the short pages of this book. As Ava returned to the small town she grew up in, she had to return home and found her daughter missing. With a little resolution, and quite a few more events/cliffhangers, this story is building up for a big conclusion. Who is the good guy? Everything is becoming less and less clear- definitely increasing the anticipation for the upcoming releases.  Trigger warnings: cancer, kidnapping, hints of child trafficking

A Captain for Caroline Gray

Image
A Captain for Caroline Gray A Proper Romance Written by: Julie Wright Have you ever wondered what it would be like if you were transported back to the regency era where women must be demure, seen and not heard, and very different from the typical modern woman? If so, Caroline Gray is going to be a relatable character. She has such a thirst for knowledge that is well-matched with her personality of exuberance for life. Caroline's struggles are real, with a struggle to find her place in a world that doesn't want her. I thoroughly enjoyed this story. While set in the regency era, it tells of a different place than the ballrooms and drawing rooms that are so popular. Instead, the setting is the wide, open sea and the adventure of India. This was a great addition to the regency novel world in a different and innovative way.
