Beauty and the Clockwork Beast
Beauty and the Clockwork Beast
A Steampunk Proper Romance
Written by: Nancy Campbell Allen
This Beauty and the Beast retelling is a unique take on the original story. With all the basic elements of the fairy-tale, this story adds a bit of steampunk technology and fantastical elements that enhance the story and make it little more real.
Lucy Pickett comes to Blackwell Manor to tend to her cousin and finds more than she bargained for. With ghosts, werewolves, and vampires involved, she is a bit wary. Lord Miles on the other hand seems to be hiding secrets and has a brusque personality. Will these two find the lasting bond that can come from beauty and the beast?
This story creates a world of what if... What if electricity was never created? What if vampires, werewolves, and ghosts lived among the regular population on a natural basis? While the what-ifs spark the imagination, the realness of the characters make it a fairy tale in believable proportions. While I may not want to live in this world, I definitely love reading about it.
